Instructional Faculty Full Time - Medical Surgical Nursing

Job Description Montgomery College, Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus is seeking anoutstanding full-time Medical-Surgical Nursing facultymember beginning January 2027. We are seeking an enthusiasticprofessional with a strong commitment to health science educationand the ability to motivate and engage students to succeed. Thisposition is part of a collective bargaining unit. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to studentsuccess, working in a multi-cultural environment, commitment to thecommunity college mission, and have effective oral and writtencommunication skills. Outstanding candidates with a passion forteaching are particularly encouraged to apply to join the dedicatedfaculty of the Allied Health Sciences Department. Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such asface-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats during days,evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses,and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of thesecampuses and teach online. Duties include but are not limited to: Teach a variety of classroom, laboratory and clinical courseswithin the Nursing program. Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities mayexist to teach summer classes. Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include day, night,early morning, weekend and/or accelerated sections, or possibly beasked to teach on another campus if needed. Opportunities may exist for teaching summer classes. Participate in discipline-related activities such as programevaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment andevaluation. Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator asneeded. Participate in ACEN accreditation activities and abide byaccreditation guidelines and standards. Engage in continuing education for the maintenance ofcredentials and accreditation requirements. Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus,and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students,participate in course and program assessment, and maintain anactive personal program of professional development and continuouslearning. Relevant physical activities include, but are not limited to:Safely transfer patients in and out of bed; safely ambulatepatients; turn and position patients as needed to preventcomplications due to bed rest; hang intravenous bags at theappropriate level; accurately read the volumes in body fluidcollection devices hung below bed level; perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing Maryland and District of Columbia Registered Nurseunencumbered license or eligibility to obtain licensure. A minimum of 2 years of clinical nursingexperience. Recent experience (within the last 2 years) inmedical-surgical nursing and /or a specialty area (mentalhealth, maternity, pediatrics) Computer proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, andPowerPoint Experience integrating technology into course deliveryincluding use of a Learning Management System. Experience utilizing high-impact teaching pedagogiesto foster student engagement and active-learning. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse studentpopulation. Demonstrated effective collaboration withcolleagues. Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in theUnited States and not require employer visa sponsorship. Additional Requirements at the Time of Hire: Requires documentation of immunizations and/or immunity forMeasles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR); Varicella; Tetanus,Diphtheria & Acellular Pertussis (Tdap); and Hepatitis B;annual clearance for tuberculosis; seasonal influenzaimmunization. Other health requirements may be needed by specifichealth care agencies for clinical experiences Documentation required for current healthcareprovider level of CPR-BLS. Criminal background clearance and drug/alcoholtesting may be required for clinical experiences. Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220 Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Nursing and/or Education. Previous didactic and clinical teaching experience at thecollege level. Expertise in Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Mental Health, CriticalCare or Nursing Simulation. Ability to integrate technology into didactic coursedelivery. Experience with the use of simulation as a teachingmethodology. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teachingpractices and support of a diverse student population. Evidence of ongoing professional development.
