Dean of Students – Middle School The Dean of Students is responsible for setting the vision for achieving and sustaining high levels of student achievement and strategically implementing the school's mission through effective leadership of all stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community. The Dean assists the Principal in maintaining discipline and attendance, establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate, implementing School Board Policy, communicating with stakeholders, supervising and evaluating staff, and other duties as directed by the building principal. Duties and Responsibilities Resolve all discipline problems and maintain records of disciplinary actions. Organize and implement a program for fostering proper attitudes and standards among students. Organize attendance procedures and follow up on absenteeism. Strive to reduce school dropouts. Represent the school at community functions on the principal’s request. Supervise student parking, bus loading, and detention assignments. Assist with campus supervision. Provide supervision at all extracurricular events assigned by the building principal. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience as an administrator at the middle school level (preferred). Demonstrated commitment to school improvement. Experience developing and implementing social skills lessons and activities. Experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans with appropriate goals and benchmarks. Experience in progress monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Other qualifications as appropriate. Performance Evaluation/Accountability Performance evaluated annually in accordance with Illinois School Code and D300 Administrative Procedures. Salary and Benefits 220‑day position 12 sick days 2 personal days 4 flex days Starting salary range: $82,844 – $89,673 Benefits: medical, dental, optical insurance—employee choice of high‑deductible PPO/HSA, PPO or HMO Life insurance Doctoral tuition reimbursement Monthly mileage stipend of $75 Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrator or Principal endorsements; completed Teacher and Administrative Modules in ELIS; successful teaching experience; strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving/ conflict‑resolution skills with a collaborative leadership style and the ability to be an effective member of a leadership team.
