Position Summary We are currently seeking a Quality Manager . This position is responsible to lead the total plant Quality Assurance / Quality Control system. This includes all traditional quality verification activities such as receiving and in-process inspection; test, audit, and repair activities; continuous improvement; product launch; supplier quality; and quality system compliance. Our Quality Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the facility quality control program, ensuring continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Acts as focal point for inter-plant communication and plan development, assuring a cohesive Sonaca North America approach to meeting its and its customers' quality system requirements. Essential Job Responsibilities Ensure that processes needed for the Quality Management System (QMS) are established, implemented, and maintained. Promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization. Develop, collect, and report performance metrics to senior management, including defect and scrap data and corrective action status. Provide budgetary inputs for training and ongoing quality assurance activities to meet near and long-term contract requirements. Establish systems for data collection and analysis, then use that data to drive continuous improvement activities. Lead and monitor Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for systemic issues and ensure robust product and process improvements. Plan, lead, and measure process and voice of customer performance and quality system effectiveness, adjusting strategy and/or procedures as necessary. Lead proactive quality improvements through the proper execution of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) within the facility to ensure flawless launch of new products and manage quality deliverables associated with product and process design changes. Analyze existing quality procedures and systems to determine compliance with customer requirements. Develop or enlist support to create revisions to procedures or formulate new procedures, including delineation of responsibilities and technical instructions. Oversee inspections of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Develop quality standards and protocols for quality assurance testing models. Formulate quality control objectives for the facility, such as defect reduction and operator certification, and coordinate the objectives with production management to maximize product reliability and reduce rework, scrap, and escapements. Communicate performance expectations and results, coach individuals and teams toward achievement, and hold them accountable using positive reinforcement or disciplinary action as necessary within company policy. Foster a cohesive team environment building confidence and morale among inspection personnel and between inspection and manufacturing/support personnel. Train and direct QC personnel in inspection and testing of work-in-process and finished products, ensuring continuous control and consistency in interpreting quality requirements. Ensure QC personnel devote sufficient time to the orientation and training of manufacturing personnel on product quality and inspection methods. Induct new staff to QMS role responsibilities and provide ongoing update training. Investigate and respond to customer complaints regarding quality, including technical responses, on-site visits, negotiation with customer quality representatives, and reporting of process capability. Develop a professional relationship with manufacturing management to facilitate coordination of functions and establish responsibilities, procedures, and criteria for achieving quality and manufacturing objectives. Analyze constraints of existing quality department processes and develop strategies to address and resolve them, including backlog monitoring and staffing adjustments. Develop or assist with training and workshops to keep personnel knowledgeable about Sonaca North America's quality system and procedures. Maintain training resources in accordance with established procedures and ensure records are forwarded for database and hard copy files. Apply document control procedures to approve, review, and update all changes to critical documents within the QMS scope. Coach and develop the quality team, promoting a positive quality culture throughout the facility. Perform personnel management responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline. Education and Experience Minimum 7 years’ experience in Quality Assurance, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Industrial). Experience as a Quality Assurance Manager in a technical industry. Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 and NADCAP in an aerospace/defense environment and implementing ISO 9001/AS9100 and other quality initiatives. Working knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and tools, including reading manufacturing routers, instructions, and drawings. Experience building strong work teams with minimal management oversight and participative decision making. Experience with Six Sigma an advantage, but not essential. Certified quality systems auditor highly preferred. Pay range for this role is – $125‑$135k Physical Requirements Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and varying noise levels. Requires sitting or standing for extended periods. Must wear personal protective equipment on the manufacturing floor. May occasionally lift or move up to 10–50 pounds.
