Job Summary and Qualifications As a Food Service Worker II PRN you will perform a wide range of duties involved with preparing and serving foods and beverages in one or more of a variety of food service operations. You will prepare food, serve food, and may serve as cashier. Cafeteria You will demonstrate proper cash handling procedures including but not limited to cash register operations, opening bank verification, closing bank reconciliation, meal passes and employee discounts, voids and over rings. You will ensure that cafeteria area is stocked with paper goods and inventory items. You will demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of time‑sensitive aspects of cafeteria operations. You will maintain attractive product appearance served in sanitary conditions. You will understand the importance of meeting all deadlines for opening and closing the cafeteria. You will demonstrate the ability to follow all HACCP guidelines for the holding, serving, and storing of food and food products. Salad Aides You will follow standardized recipes and monitor food for appropriate taste and appearance. You will review menus to determine type and quantities of salads to prepare. You will follow standardized portion sizes on salads and desserts for cafeteria and patient care areas. You will understand and practice safe food handling techniques 100% of the time, including dating/labeling, time/temperature guidelines, HACCP. You will demonstrate ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, working at acceptable production speed and making deliveries as scheduled. You will demonstrate proper plating and presentation techniques using the appropriate serving size at all times and practicing exceptional customer service skills for special functions. Nourishments You will perform routine diet nourishment functions including tube feed mixing, preparing formulas, assembling supplements, inventory for floor stock, and preparing nourishments. You will demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of time‑sensitive aspects of nourishment operations. You will provide optimum service to patients and caregivers without compromising dietary restrictions or production demands. You will demonstrate a willingness to cross‑train and work in other areas of the department as needed and assigned. You will demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in the performance of routine and assigned duties. You will understand modified diets, resources for non‑typical modified diets, tube feeding/baby formula diet order handling and preparation. Plugger You will perform routine patient cart functions, including plugging in the carts for a predetermined time, adding temperature‑sensitive items to trays, preparing shakes as necessary, and checking tray temperatures. You will demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of time‑sensitive aspects of the patient tray operation. You will provide optimum service to patients and caregivers without compromising dietary restrictions or production demands. You will demonstrate a willingness to cross‑train and work in other areas of the department as needed and assigned. You will demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in the performance of routine and assigned duties. You will understand modified diets preparation and resources for non‑typical modified diets. Grill You will prepare all grill and fried items in a sanitary/timely manner based on the menu. You will pre‑prepare and stock food items for use in the cafeteria grill area. You will demonstrate initiative to assist at steam table, salad bar, and beverage area during service periods. You will demonstrate, understand and practice safe food handling techniques 100% of the time, including dating/labeling, time/temperature guidelines, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. You will greet and assist all customers and physicians with their food needs and selections in a courteous and polite manner that consistently meets their expectations, continuously practicing service recovery skills as required. You will maintain a clean work area following all cleaning schedules. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Some Food Service experience is desirable. Food Handlers permit or must obtain during the first two weeks of hire date.
