SENIOR DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

JOB TITLE: Senior Director, OperationsThe Senior Director of Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across Good Counsel's revenue-generating and operational support departments. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for aligning budgetary planning, scheduling, logistics, and project management across the Auxiliary Programs, Performing Arts Center, Print Shop, Transportation, and Facility functions. The Senior Director serves as the primary integration point among these departments, ensuring consistent operational standards, sound financial stewardship, and coordinated support for school-sponsored events, facility rentals, and daily campus operations, all in service of the School's mission.The Senior Director, Operations will ensure the mission, vision, cultural priorities, and values of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, a diverse, inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School, pervade all aspects of School operations and all interactions with constituents.The Senior Director, Operations maintains a working knowledge of campus facilities, and serves on the Plant Committee, Administrative Management Team, and Emergency Response Team. In addition to strong project management skills and administrative structure, this position requires working knowledge of revenue generation, forecasting, project management and logistics. The Senior Director must also be able to respond effectively to emergencies while balancing long-term strategic planning with the demands of day-to-day operations. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic & Departmental Leadership Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and performance management for the Director of Auxiliary Programs, Performing Arts Center Operations Manager, Print Shop Manager, Transportation Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Physical Plant. Serve as the primary point of accountability to the COO and school leadership for the performance, coordination, and integration of these five operational departments. Set annual goals and performance metrics for each direct report and department; conduct regular one-on-ones and formal performance reviews. Establish and maintain consistent operational policies, service standards, and communication practices across departments. Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and mission-aligned culture among all operational and auxiliary staff. Act as an escalation point to resolve cross-departmental conflicts, resource constraints, and competing priorities. Revenue Generation & Business Strategy Provide operational guidance and strategic direction for revenue-generating initiatives, including summer/enrichment camps, campus and facility rentals, and Performing Arts Center rentals. Partner with the Director of Auxiliary Programs and Performing Arts Center Operations Manager to identify, evaluate, and develop new revenue streams that are mission-appropriate and consistent with unrelated business income (UBI) regulations. Review and approve rental contracts, pricing structures, and vendor/rental agreements originating from direct-report departments. Establish annual and multi-year revenue targets in consultation with the COO; monitor performance against goals and drive corrective action where needed. Analyze rental, camp, and event revenue performance and present findings and recommendations to the COO at least twice annually. Budget & Financial Management Consolidate, review, and provide strategic and technical guidance on annual operating and capital budgets submitted by each direct-report department. Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets throughout the year; identify variances and implement corrective measures. Guide and review cost-benefit analyses for major purchases, equipment leases, contracted services, and capital investments. Support the COO in preparing the consolidated operations budget for review by school leadership and the Board. Ensure sound financial controls, accurate record-keeping, and inventory management practices are followed across departments. Scheduling & Logistics Oversee alignment of facility-use schedules across auxiliary programs, the Performing Arts Center, transportation, print shop, and physical plant to prevent conflicts and maximize utilization. Ensure coordinated logistical planning for school-sponsored events, rentals, and special activities that require cross-departmental support (e.g., staffing, transportation, signage/printing, AV/technical support, custodial and facility readiness). Review and approve master calendars for camps, rentals, performances, and transportation routes/events to ensure operational readiness. Ensure each department maintains, follows, and communicates reliable schedules to internal and external stakeholders. Project Management Provide oversight and strategic guidance for capital improvement, renovation, and departmental improvement projects led by direct reports, including those overseen by the Assistant Director of Physical Plant. Establish consistent project management standards and templates for defining scope, budget, timeline, and risk across departments. Track project status regularly and report progress, risks, and recommendations to the COO and school leadership. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors as needed to keep capital and facility projects on schedule and within budget. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management Ensure all departments comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including safety, labor, transportation, and building/fire codes. Oversee implementation of departmental safety protocols, training programs, and emergency response plans. Ensure appropriate insurance coverage, contracts, and vendor compliance are in place for rentals, events, and outside contractors. Maintain accurate compliance documentation and inspection/maintenance records. Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate direct reports; support their ongoing professional development. Promote consistent policies, procedures, and standards of service across all operational departments. Model and reinforce the School's mission, values, and commitment to a safe, supportive community. Work on cross departmental collaborative projects assigned by COO.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

In addition to having technical background to understand how our building works and the ability to solicit and help evaluate third party maintenance/repair proposals, the Director must have: Strategic and analytical thinker with strong business and financial acumen. Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop a diverse team of managers across distinct functional areas. Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cost/benefit analysis capabilities. Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities across concurrent initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to school leadership and the Board. Skilled at building relationships and driving collaboration across departments, vendors, and outside partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility/event scheduling or management software. Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve leadership and diplomacy skills, especially the ability to deal with conflict, internal and external. Ability to motivate and inspire staff. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.

REQUIRED WORK HOURS:

Full-time, with late weekday and weekend hours to support for after-hour/weekend needs or support during school breaks. PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The annual base salary range is $125,000-$140,000, commensurate with experience.
