JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a General Superintendent to support expansion and infrastructure improvement projects at the JFK Energy Center located at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, NY. The General Superintendent will serve as the senior field leader responsible for directing all on-site construction operations and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards. Reporting to project and construction leadership, this individual will manage and mentor field superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and craft labor; oversee daily construction coordination, short-interval planning, and material deliveries; enforce OSHA, safety, and quality requirements; and monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and design requirements. Working within a heavily unionized environment, the General Superintendent will coordinate work performed through the project's General Contractor and serve as the primary liaison between field personnel, project management, engineering teams, and subcontractors.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
15+ years of construction experience with progressive field leadership responsibility
Experience leading industrial, power generation, utility, energy, or large infrastructure construction projects
Experience managing craft labor, foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel
Experience coordinating and overseeing work performed through a General Contractor
Experience working in heavily unionized construction environments
Strong understanding of OSHA requirements, construction safety practices, and quality control processes
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Power plant experience (highly preferred)
Cogeneration (CHP) or combined-cycle power plant experience
Central utility plant or district energy experience
Airport infrastructure experience
Refinery, chemical plant, or industrial manufacturing experience
Startup and commissioning support experience
