Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (4x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | Every other weekend required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult medical/surgical patients in an ED inpatient holding area while awaiting inpatient bed placement
• Monitor and manage telemetry, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, for MS/Tele and PCU-level patients
• Float to Emergency Department and MedSurg areas as needed based on unit census and patient acuity
• Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including blood product administration, PICC and peripheral line care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and phlebotomy
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication framework
• Participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as required per contract obligations

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a relevant clinical setting
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency in MS/Tele skills including telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Clinical competency in colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure care, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification; experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Experience with port access, central line blood draws, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury
• Background in orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac management
