Registered Nurse (RN)This position is situated within a 35-bed acute care facility that encompasses various critical care areas.Unit InformationEmergency Room (ER): 9 treatment spaces (8 beds and 1 hallway space)Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 4 bedsMedical-Surgical (Med/Surg): 15 bedsExperience RequirementsMinimal experience required is 1.5 years in acute care, with preference for Med/Surg, Emergency Department, or ICU experience. Applicants with 2+ years of experience will be considered, including first-time travelers if they meet the experience requirement. Travelers must reside more than 100 miles away from the facility. Permanently employed staff must wait one full year to return as travelers.Patient TypesCare will be provided for patients of all ages with the following conditions:SepsisDiabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)Alcohol WithdrawalAcute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)Myocardial Infarction (MI)TraumaStrokePatient RatiosEmergency Room: 1:3–4Intensive Care Unit: 1:1–2 (dependent on acuity/age)Medical-Surgical: 1:5 (dependent on acuity/age)Required CertificationsBLSACLSTNCCPALSNIHSS (preferred)CPI (preferred)Required EducationCompletion of an accredited nursing education program; must hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.Skills RequiredGeneral Emergency Department experienceCritical care experience for ICU holdsTrauma experienceComplex wound care and dressing changesConducting thorough nursing assessmentsFlexibility to work across all units (ED, ICU, and Med/Surg)Support on the UnitThe unit is supported by:1 Charge Nurse (serves as hospital coordinator)Phlebotomy servicesResource Nurse (same as Charge Nurse)Respiratory Therapy servicesHospitalist services, with APP coverage during nightsCharting SystemUtilization of EPIC software is required.Floating PolicyTravelers trained in all areas may be floated to the Emergency Room, Medical-Surgical unit, and/or Intensive Care Unit as necessary.OrientationOrientation for this position lasts 2 days.SchedulingWeekend rotation is required every other week, and holiday coverage is expected every other holiday.
