About the Position:

Mountainside Treatment Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on facilities professional to join our Maintenance Department as a Lead Facilities Technician. We are looking for a well-rounded maintenance leader with a strong foundation across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems, as well as proven experience leading and coordinating the work of others in a facilities or maintenance environment.

The ideal candidate will serve as the primary on-site technical expert, performing advanced maintenance and troubleshooting while providing day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to facilities staff and external vendors. This individual should possess the ability to assess complex building issues, prioritize competing demands, and help drive operational excellence across a diverse campus environment.

This role is responsible for ensuring that buildings, infrastructure, and grounds are safe, compliant, efficient, and maintained to Best-in-Class standards. Success in this position requires a combination of strong technical expertise, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to lead by example while fostering a collaborative and service-oriented team culture.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Your Role:

  • Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on; HVAC systems, electrical systems (low/medium voltage), plumbing systems, building automation systems (BAS), lighting and controls, doors, locks, and access hardware, general carpentry, painting, and finishes.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex maintenance issues.
  • Lead and mentor facilities technicians and assistants; assign and oversee daily work.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager with planning, prioritization, and scheduling of work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, fire/life safety, and local building codes.
  • Help to ensure maintenance supply inventory is adequate in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor and the Facilities Manager.
  • Assist during safety drills and respond promptly to alarms and other safety concerns.
  • Perform inspections of major mechanical infrastructure such as generators and the fire suppression sprinkler systems.
  • Assist in mechanical infrastructure in coordination with seasonal needs.
  • Assist other departments to achieve successful completion of collaborative projects and tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on facilities or building maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience and strong working knowledge across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems required. Candidates should possess a broad facilities maintenance background with the ability to troubleshoot and coordinate repairs across multiple trades.
  • Trade certification or vocational training (HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, coordinating, or supervising maintenance personnel, contractors, or facilities teams required.
  • Must have basic computer skills including competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and use of internet applications.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and be able to spend long periods of time walking/standing.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Compensation:

The base rate of pay for this position is $28.00 to $32.00 per hour. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
