Details Med/Surg Tele unit within a cancer hospital setting Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30) Patient ratios goal of 1:4, may be 1:5 Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs No set or blocked scheduling offered Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units Cares for adult and geriatric patients with solid tumor cancers across all stages including new diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life transition Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, and antineoplastic chemotherapy encounters Epic EMR used Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration BLS certification required ONS Chemo certification preferred 2 years of acute care experience required, current within the last 12 months and in the specialty applied for Oncology experience preferred but not required Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, central line blood draws, and starting/maintaining IVs Chemotherapy administration experience preferred Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred Epic charting experience required Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted Additional Information Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention Provide direct care for med/surg oncology patients across the full cancer care continuum First-time travelers considered, willingness to learn and grow nursing practice encouraged Previous travel experience preferred but not required Local candidates accepted at the same rate Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility Current employees of the health system are ineligible to work as a traveler at any location within the system RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed promptly after contract signing due to strict compliance timelines American Traveler Job ID P-758882.
