Public Health Clinic Nurse - Clinical Preventive Services

Marion County Health and Human Services is seeking a qualified RN to provide TB case management and Public Health Clinic services. Typical duties include providing Tuberculosis (TB) Case Management and Public Health Clinic Services, administering vaccines to infants, children, and adults, providing Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic Services, and conducting Infection Prevention Services to MCHHS employees. The nurse in this position provides Tuberculosis (TB) Case Management and Public Health Clinic Services. Demonstrates flexibility in adapting as program and/or service needs change.

The nurse in this position works to prevent and control the spread of tuberculosis. Related duties include but are not limited to reportable TB and outbreak response, developing and implementing comprehensive plans of nursing care, educating, counseling, and coaching clients regarding disease process, risk behavior, healthy lifestyles, prophylaxis, medication management and treatment goals, and performing accurate and timely documentation in ORPHEUS database and electronic medical record.

General Public Health Clinic responsibilities include providing direct service to clients, including administration of injections, following the policies and procedures specific to the services provided, providing health information and education relevant to the services sought by the individual, per policy, and participating in returning client calls, signing off on returned labs, follow-up of positive labs, weekly chart audits, drug counts, etc.

Immunizations to Infants, Children and Adults include administering vaccines as forecasted unless medically contraindicated, providing immunizations in Marion County clinics and special off-site clinics, and assuring documentation of services to meet state and local standards.

Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic Services include completing the intake, screening, nursing history, and assessment of clients, assuring and providing appropriate treatment for clients, to include administration of medications and immunizations, provision of current and appropriate medication information verbally and in writing, initiation of a plan with client for follow up and treatment, triage walk-in clients and those phoning in with questions or requests for exam, providing accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical record, and reviewing lab results and processes appropriately.

Infection Prevention Services to MCHHS employees include conducting Immunity Assessment, TB screening, and providing immunizations to employees per policy, drawing blood for post vaccine titer per policy, providing timely, accurate & complete documentation of services in confidential digital & paper files, and maintaining PPD, fit test solution and vaccine medication inventory for employees.

Share in General Program Duties with the Clinical Preventive Services (CPS) Team include developing and/or contributing to Team meeting agenda, policies and procedures and other documents, reviewing and providing feedback to Health Officer regarding standing orders, providing services to and communication with community partners, e.g. homeless shelters, school nurses and information and technical assistance to healthcare providers, communicating client and program issues to the Clinic Coordinator and/or Program Manager, participating in planning, implementation, and evaluation of CPS program activities, participating in and may provide evaluation and monitoring of CPS program services and activities including quality improvement initiatives and program performance management measurement and tracking, and other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

May flex schedule to provide services outside of normal MondayFriday, 800 am 5:00 pm hours. May work late clinic; occasional after hours or weekends to meet business need. May include but is not limited to response to public health emergencies to provide essential nursing or non-nursing services, including mass clinics to provide immunizations/medication, or outbreak response, or other functions. Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.
