About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 6 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 9 months of travel experience required in a critical care unit. License: Valid Kentucky RN license or Compact RN license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - NIHSS certification (current certificate on file, obtained within 2 years of start date) - Minimum 1 year of experience working in a certified stroke center critical care unit preferred - Familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes - IV-tPA administration and post-tPA monitoring competency Description: Must receive flu vaccination without exceptions. This is a six-week contract position. The facility is undergoing an electronic health record conversion. Extra support is needed during this time. Preferred assignment dates are November 23rd to December 19th or November 30th to December 26th. The position may require floating to stepdown with a 1:4 patient ratio. Candidates should have experience in assessing stroke signs and symptoms. Experience with arterial line management and care of ventilated patients is beneficial. Responsibilities may include central line management and the administration of blood products. Candidates will manage patients with acute stroke and multi-system organ dysfunction. Experience in neuro intensive care and post-neurosurgery management is an asset. Comfortable with emergency medications and interpretation of dysrhythmias is expected. Candidates should have knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions. Familiarity with charting systems is preferred, as the facility is transitioning to a new system.
