Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse for the Post Partum/Mom Baby unit cares for women of childbearing age and newborns. Candidates must be able to recognize unit workflow, processes, policies, and procedures within the post-partum unit. Ability to assess and identify risk factors related to sepsis, venous thromboembolism/deep vein thrombosis, suicide, malignant hyperthermia, and pressure injury is essential. Providing discharge education and assessment, abnormal assessment, and pain management is required. Candidates must demonstrate time management and prioritization of patient care needs based on acuity and individual patient requirements. Utilization of AIDET and BSSR principles is expected. Advanced skills are not required. Procedures performed on the unit include circumcisions. Candidates should adhere to dress code requirements, including black scrub pants and Caribbean blue scrub tops, vests, or jackets. It is important to follow unit-specific policies and guidelines. Additional information about the unit's recent awards or recognition may be beneficial to prospective candidates. Consideration of new equipment or technology, the experience of staff, and scheduling options may also enhance appeal for this assignment.
