What You Will Receive as a Machinist II (Press Brake)

• Starting Pay - $30/hr + (DOE)
• Shift: Weekday, Mon - Thurs, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm
• Direct Hire
• Located in Newberg, Oregon

What You Will Be Doing as a Machinist II (Press Brake)

• Operates Amada 100-ton press brake, Amada 35-ton, Amada 80-ton, Cincinnati 90-ton.
• Operates multiple machines, including manual lathes and mills, CNC lathes and mills, machining centers, and Automatic Lathes in assigned area with limited supervision.
• Performs routine maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning.
• Troubleshoots moderate equipment problems and requests service or repairs as needed.
• Reads and interprets work orders and adjusts equipment and materials to match.
• Inspects personal production, to achieve and maintain quality standards and may make recommendations for improvement.
• Helps with rework and teaches others on how to reduce scrap.
• Actively engages and participates in department continuous improvement efforts to support and implement improvements to processes, programs, tooling, and fixturing, applying innovation and creative solutions which result in exceeding goals and targets.
• Works collaboratively within the team to maintain a neat and organized work station.
• Achieve and maintain productivity standards, follows all safety guidelines, and maintains acceptable dependability level.
• Understands and completes documentation needed to comply with policies and procedures that are appropriate for the position.
• Effectively interprets production, learning to predict flow and is proactive to keep personal production line/area operating at a high level and may coach others.
• Versatile in operating major equipment centers with key machinery supported by secondary machines and operations.
• Works with Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to provide input to assist with resolving quality concerns and improve existing processes.
• Follows safety guidelines, must not pose a risk to self or others, identifies potential safety hazards and initiates corrective action when necessary.
• Actively participates in all department, quarterly, and company meetings.
• Train and mentor less experienced machinists and machine operators how to perform tasks related to manual lathes, mills, and CNC machining centers.
• Other duties as assigned (refer to the job family and skills matrix).

What You Will Need to Have as a Machinist II (Press Brake)

• Must have at least 3-5 years of experience operating a press brake.
• Previous experience with Amada and Cincinnati machines is a plus.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English with demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
• Ability to interpret blueprints with a working knowledge of GD&T.
• Strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
• Knowledge of ISO procedures.
• Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Ability to perform math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
• Knowledge of all tooling and material types used during production, including uncommon and unconventional tools, with the ability to alter tools to achieve desired results.
• Moderate computer skills and ability to learn and understand ERP systems.
• Demonstrates behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent resolutions to problems and collaboratively work with other employees within work group to achieve goal.
• Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration, and/or dust, requiring the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respirator use requirements.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
