Sterile Processing Tech

Location: Richmond , VA  
Shift: 2nd Shift – 3:00 PM–11:30 PM; 3rd Shift Also Available
Schedule: 5 Days/Week | Approximately 40 Hours/Week
Role Type: Contract to Permanent

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Tech / Coordinator to support sterile processing operations and ensure the cleanliness, functionality, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of sterile processing standards, infection control practices, and surgical instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments.
• Operate washer-disinfectors, sterilizers/autoclaves, and other sterile processing equipment.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, completeness, and damage.
• Document sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, missing or damaged instruments, and inventory.
• Ensure instruments and equipment are processed according to applicable  ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), and SOPs .
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and equipment.
• Follow established safety, infection control, quality, and sterile processing procedures.
• Identify and communicate quality issues, equipment concerns, and processing discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with departmental standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience .
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, and sterilization processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CRCST or equivalent sterile processing certification required.
• Previous  quality control experience preferred .
• Strong understanding of infection prevention and sterile processing practices.
• Ability to follow written procedures, manufacturer IFUs, and established quality standards.
