Senior Technical Business AnalystHybrid position, onsite Tuesday-Thursday, Manhattan. Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, turning complex business needs into scalable data-driven solutions. The role focuses on business analysis with an emphasis on data, analytics and BI deliveryworking closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, and Analytics teams to define requirements, design data models, ensure data quality, and deliver actionable reports and dashboards. The Senior Technical BA will lead requirements elicitation, prioritize work in Agile environments, and drive improvements in data processes and visualizations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end business analysis for analytics and data initiatives: elicit, document and validate requirements with stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications.Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to design data models, data sets and ETL approaches that meet business needs and performance expectations.Develop and validate data quality rules, perform data profiling, and work with teams to resolve data issues and ensure reliable datasets for reporting and analytics.Drive the design and delivery of dashboards and reports (primarily Power BI): define KPIs, wireframes, acceptance criteria, and validate visualizations against requirements.Write and review SQL queries and basic Python scripts to support data extraction, validation and analysis; work with engineers to optimize queries and pipelines.Facilitate agile ceremonies (grooming, sprint planning, demos) and prioritize backlogs to align technical work with business value.Partner with cloud platform teams (Azure) to define deployment, security and performance requirements for analytics solutions.Coach and mentor junior BAs and analysts, promoting best practices in requirements management, data modeling and visualization.Perform stakeholder management and communication across business, analytics and engineering teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery.Identify opportunities for process improvement, performance tuning (Power BI and query optimization), and automation to improve delivery speed and data reliability.QualificationsProven experience as a Business Analyst with 5+ years working on data, analytics or BI projects; experience in a senior or lead BA role preferred.Strong Business Analysis skills: requirements elicitation, user stories, acceptance criteria, stakeholder management and process mapping.Experience with Power BI and dashboard/report development, including designing visuals, measures and performance tuning (Power BI optimization).Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks) and cloud-based analytics architectures.Experience collaborating with Data Engineering teams on data modeling, ETL/ELT design and dataset creation.Proficient in SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation and profiling; working knowledge of Python for data tasks is a plus.Hands-on understanding of data quality concepts and tools; ability to define data quality rules and oversee remediation efforts.Solid knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices for creating actionable dashboards.Experience with data modeling concepts (star schemas, dimensional modeling) and building datasets optimized for reporting.Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.Experience working in Agile delivery teams and familiarity with backlog management and sprint planning.Relevant certifications (CBAP, PMI-PBA, Microsoft Certified: Power BI/Azure) are a plus.BenefitsMedical / Dental / Vision insurancePension Plan401(k) and 457(k) retirement savings programsPTOFSAShort & Long-term disability insuranceLife insurance
