Job Title: Clinical Nurse II Profession: Nursing Specialty: Ambulatory Care Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of obstetric ambulatory experience. License: Current RN License. Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Must-Have: Proficient in the operation of clinical equipment, computers, and technology within the nursing practice setting. Description: The Clinical Nurse II is an RN who practices as a full partner on the health care team. The nurse consistently demonstrates safe practice within the organization's professional practice model. The Clinical Nurse II possesses the knowledge, skills, and attitude to effectively meet standards for competent professional nursing practice. The nurse exhibits organizational core values reflecting its mission. The Clinical Nurse II independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process. The nurse accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients. Assigned patients may range in age from infancy to adult. The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates competency in Patient and Family Centered Care, Evidence-Based Practice and Research, Safety, Continuous Quality Improvement, Teamwork, Technology/Informatics, Professionalism, and Leadership. The nurse works closely with the inter-professional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse focuses on expanding the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of assigned patients. The Clinical Nurse II seeks feedback in assuming leadership roles. The nurse provides feedback for improved clinical practice. The nurse demonstrates how nursing practice impacts the organizational vision, mission, and goals. The nurse complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies. The Clinical Nurse II recognizes the patient (or the patient's designee) as the source of control and full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs. The nurse manages more complex patient care assignments appropriate to skill level. The nurse participates in building consensus and resolving conflict in the context of patient care. The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates the ability to see the "big picture." The nurse uses clinical experience and historical patient responses to develop and refine practice. The nurse is able to speak to the patient about advanced care planning, values, and end-of-life care before acute decisions are necessary. The nurse evaluates and considers the implementation of alternative approaches to establish a healing environment. The nurse ensures systems within the area of practice support patient-centered care. The nurse utilizes the evidence-based practice process to generate clinical questions and apply findings to practice. The Clinical Nurse II questions current practice and develops a sense of clinical inquiry. The nurse recognizes and communicates the need for revising policies and procedures for clinical practice evaluation. The nurse locates current evidence and resources related to clinical practice. The Clinical Nurse II minimizes the risk of harm to patients, families, providers, and self through system effectiveness. The nurse serves as a resource for safety concerns. The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates skills in problem solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation. The nurse participates in analyzing errors and designing system improvements as needed. The Clinical Nurse II may guide, assist, and direct unlicensed assistive personnel as defined by relevant policies and procedures. OB, triage experience is preferred, with 3 years of obstetrics experience required, not necessarily in ambulatory settings. Labor and Delivery experience is also preferred. Ambulatory experience is preferred.
