Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Overview Innovative Therapy Center (Innovative Speech and Swallowing Partners) is a predominantly pediatric outpatient therapy clinic. It provides speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling services from a multi-disciplinary team. Services are delivered at the clinic location in Uniontown, Ohio, with some support at select daycare centers and schools in surrounding areas. We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and knowledgeable Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our energetic outpatient practice. The position requires availability 3 days/week with an office schedule. The office hours are 6:00pm on Mondays–Thursdays and 5:00pm on Fridays; candidates must be able to work these hours. Experience with pediatric populations focusing on sensory processing and fine motor skills is helpful but not required. Job Summary Provides and implements occupational therapy services to clients, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication. Responsibilities and Duties Provides occupational therapy services to clients and initiates referrals when appropriate. Conducts screenings of potential clients. Progress monitoring to assist OTR in treatment planning. All services must be provided in accordance with the standards of practice and ethics of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Interprets and communicates evaluation findings to clients, family, and other team members in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Develops treatment plans including short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals. Coordinates treatment plan with client, family and other necessary professionals. Implements and conducts treatment as outlined in the treatment plan. Monitors client’s progress regularly and modifies treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with the treatment plan. Communicates regularly with client/caregiver to promote carryover of treatment plan at home, school, and/or community environments as indicated. Documents results of client’s assessment, treatment, follow-up and termination of services in a timely manner (within 24 hours of services being provided). Adapts treatment to meet the individual needs of the client. Instructs client, family and team in appropriate occupational therapy activities and/or home programs to allow carry-over of therapeutic remediation and goals in daily activities. Reviews the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual occupational therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, using predetermined criteria. Participates in client, family, and team education. Attends meetings as required. Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development. Records billable treatment times the day of service. Provides treatment in accordance with established standards of practice. Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, daycare/school facility staff, and family members. Projects a positive and professional image at all times.
