School Nurse-RN Temporary Position

Temporary School Nurse Position

Shelbyville Central Schools is seeking a qualified School Nurse to provide temporary coverage during a maternity leave assignment. The nurse will support student health needs, provide direct care for illness and injuries, and promote a safe and healthy school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and emergency care for students and staff
• Administer prescribed medications and document care given
• Maintain student health records and required immunization documentation
• Monitor and respond to student health concerns and referrals
• Develop and update individualized student health care plans
• Ensure compliance with state laws and district health policies
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized health clinic environment
• Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community health providers
• Assist with health screenings and health-related training for staff
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of clinic activities
• Monitor emergency medical equipment (AEDs, first aid kits, etc.)

Qualifications

Valid Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license

CPR certification (required and maintained current)

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience preferred

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families

Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, AED, and emergency procedures

Ability to maintain accurate records and follow medical protocols

Must comply with all district policies and the nursing Code of Ethics

Ability to work in a school setting with children of all ages
