Neurology - Stroke Physician Assistant

OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our growing Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Program. This unique opportunity allows an APP to work alongside a dedicated Stroke Neurologist in building a comprehensive outpatient stroke program focused on post-hospital transitions, secondary stroke prevention, vascular risk reduction, and long-term cerebrovascular care.
The APP will practice exclusively within the Hospital Outpatient Department (HOD) and serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary neuroscience team committed to improving access, continuity of care, and outcomes for stroke patients throughout Central Illinois and surrounding underserved communities.

Option of four 10 -hour shifts or five 8 -hour shifts

Position Overview
The Stroke APP will work closely with a Stroke Neurologist who provides care across the inpatient and outpatient continuum. The APP will help ensure a seamless transition from hospitalization to outpatient follow-up, providing timely access for patients following stroke, TIA, and other cerebrovascular events.
The position is focused on:
Rapid-access post-discharge stroke follow-up
Secondary stroke prevention
Longitudinal cerebrovascular disease management
Vascular risk factor optimization
Patient and caregiver education
Expansion of stroke services across the region
Development of innovative stroke prevention and vascular health initiatives
The APP will play a vital role in reducing readmissions, improving patient outcomes, enhancing continuity of care, and expanding access to specialty stroke services.

Clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $55.20 - $70.09

Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Illinois license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
National certification as an APRN or PA
Master's degree or higher in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
BLS certification required

Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary neuroscience team
Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Neurology, stroke, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care experience preferred
