As a Director Technology within Optum Health Financial Tech, you will lead technology management and general operations across key initiatives in Utilization Management and Care Management Solutions. You will work closely with senior leadership to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, drive operational excellence, and facilitate executive readiness across complex healthcare technology platforms. In this role, you will leverage enterprise-approved AI tools and emerging technology trends to streamline daily workflows, remove operational barriers, and enhance strategic decision-making across the portfolio.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities: Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement across strategic planning and operational rhythmEvaluate emerging trends and AI capabilities to inform solution design, operational excellence, and strategic innovationTranslate Integrated Solutions Team strategic priorities into actionable plans with clear milestones, owners, and measures of success across Utilization Management and Care Management SolutionsDrive alignment across business, product, technology, and operational stakeholders to advance solution priorities, scalability, and affordabilityServe as a thought partner to senior leaders by pressure-testing assumptions, surfacing risks, and identifying growth opportunitiesOwn the end-to-end operating cadence (staff meetings, QBRs, MORs, budget cycles, and strategic reviews) and coordinate cross-functional initiatives across the portfolioLead special projects and time-sensitive business execution initiatives, providing structure and clarity to complex or ambiguous business problemsCreate and refine executive-level content (briefs, narratives, operating reviews) for senior stakeholders to support decision-making and messaging alignmentYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested inRequired Qualifications: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience (e.g., Bachelor's degree or 7+ years of relevant technology/operations experience)7+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, program management, or a Chief of Staff-type role3+ years of experience operating in a matrixed enterprise environment, driving cross-functional alignment and managing complex initiatives3+ years of experience simplifying complex information into concise narratives and executive-level presentations for senior leadershipPreferred Qualifications: Experience in healthcare, technology, or digital transformation environmentsDemonstrated familiarity with Optum Tech operating models, Optum Health structure, or OT governance processesExperience supporting executive leaders through large-scale transformations (such as AI-first initiatives, modernization, or workforce redesign)Experience in management consulting or strategic advisory rolesDemonstrated familiarity with technology operating models and enterprise governance processes*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment.
