Mental Health Clinical Nursing Instructor (PT)

Overview Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Clinical Instructors in the Arlington, VA area to mentor students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The role involves teaching in an inpatient clinical setting and bridging classroom and simulation learning with real-world patient care on-site. Candidates with a completed MSN are encouraged to apply. Teaching experience is not required. Clinicals are scheduled at healthcare facilities in the Arlington, VA area. Responsibilities Teaching and Curriculum Implementation Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service. Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students. Student Evaluation and Support Develop and post written clinical assignments aligned with students’ knowledge base and learning needs. Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance based on course objectives. Provide remediation as required and return written work in a timely manner. Clinical Coordination Orient and maintain current knowledge of clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations. Develop and post written clinical assignments aligned with students’ knowledge base and learning needs; maintain visibility at the clinical site. Program and College Development Contribute to ongoing program and College development, assessment, campus retention efforts, and policies. May teach simulation/skills lab and/or didactic content under the supervision of the course coordinator. Professionalism and Collaboration Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students; work with administration and colleagues to improve operations and student satisfaction. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Comply with regulatory rules and standards; keep the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues; report to the dean or assistant dean with course coordinator oversight. Qualifications Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. An unencumbered professional nursing license in Virginia. At least two years of professional nursing instruction or teaching experience within the last five years; teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required. Live within a reasonable proximity of Arlington, VA; will teach at clinical locations assigned per session. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a passion for nursing education and lifelong learning. Willingness to serve students and colleagues with respect and care; responsible and purpose-driven. Compensation and Employment Type Chamberlain Visiting Professor positions are available Online and Campus with compensation that varies by assignment and experience. Specific pay rates are provided during the hiring process and may be adjusted based on permissible factors such as course type, location, licensure, and market factors.
