Colorado RN Nurse II: Care Leader & Mentor

Department Information: Position Number ILC-00020 By Niessl, Jenna. Incumbents are recommended to be reallocated to a C6S2XX, Nurse II. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Only current Colorado residents are eligible for this position. A short‑staffing temporary pay differential of 4% will apply from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Responsibilities Provide and coordinate basic to skilled nursing care for residents, including admission and daily assessments, identifying needs, developing and implementing care plans and physician referrals, detecting changes in health status, administering medications and treatments (IV fluids, enteral nutrition), documenting care in the EHR, and participating in quality assurance activities. Perform specialized treatments such as IV administration and venipuncture according to physician orders, State, Federal, and VA regulations, and document all findings in the EHR. Implement infection control practices, including appropriate precautions, correct waste disposal, equipment cleaning, and on‑spot education for staff, residents or visitors. Train, mentor and lead nursing staff, providing feedback, guidance, and ensuring timely and proper care of residents. Ensure staff competencies are completed and submitted, and maintain updated knowledge through continuing education and literature review. Assume other duties as assigned, including driving a State vehicle for off‑site assessments or resident transport when required. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Two (2) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. Appropriate education may substitute for up to two (2) years of required experience on a year‑for‑year basis. State of Colorado residency at the time of application, and residency within the state for the duration of employment. Standard/full background and reference check required. Motor Vehicle Check required for employees who will drive a State vehicle for normal job duties or on occasion for training, meetings, or client visits. Valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License or a valid, non‑restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the Colorado state border. Out‑of‑state Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.
