JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

An employee in this position monitors student behavior and attends to the special needs of exceptional students while they are using school buses. The employee receives detailed instruction of the duties and responsibilities of this work. Independent judgment is exercised in emergencies by selecting the action to take from ones that have been planned by higher authority. The employee is responsible for safe operation of vehicles in the school transportation program. This employee will report directly to the Director of Exceptional Children and the Exceptional Children Transportation Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must be able to work effectively with students who have moderate and severe cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities

• Attendance: Must be regular and prompt to work.
• Alertness: Must provide vigilant monitoring of students during the bus ride.
• Initiative: Must seek new and better ways of doing things.
• Courtesy: Must be polite and willing to help.
• Dependability: Must work independently.
• Housekeeping: Must keep bus clean and aisle areas clear.
• Job Knowledge: Must possess knowledge and skills necessary for the job.
• Personality: Must maintain good rapport with co-workers; and be friendly and sociable with customers.
• Personal Appearance: Must be neat and well groomed.
• Physical Fitness: Must be able to perform physical requirements for position.
• Quantity of Work: Should have good work production record.
• Stability: Must be able to tolerate pressure on the job.
• Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• General: Must learn the school bus route.

SALARY INFORMATION

Pay Grade 51-Hourly


$15.00 per hour
