Business Consultant - NC

Position Summary The Business Consultant is responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities through networking, channel partners and self-generated opportunities. This role involves executing aggressive prospecting strategies to gain access to key decision makers within prospective client organizations. The Business Consultant maintains ownership of the entire sales cycle, including post‑sale and implementation processes, negotiates pricing and scope of service, completes required sales paperwork, and finalizes client service agreements. The Consultant also maintains an accurate sales pipeline and forecast, and achieves monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals set by sales leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Proactively generate new business opportunities within the designated territory. Continuously expand knowledge of industry trends, new products, services and broker practices. Conduct thorough analysis, planning, and implementation of products and services tailored to client needs. Stay informed about competitors' initiatives and analyze potential competitive threats. Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of all services provided to assigned clients. Schedule and conduct regular meetings with clients to address questions and concerns during the implementation phase. Collect and analyze data to provide strategic guidance on products, services, marketing, sales, and other business areas. Prepare concise and impactful executive summaries for client presentations. Develop lead generation strategies and effectively use CRM (Salesforce) to track activities. Consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales quotas. Complete and submit accurate new business paperwork, expense reports, and weekly activity reports by the deadlines set by management. Participate in monthly consulting meetings and provide training and coaching to other team members. Engage in frequent domestic travel to attend team onsite meetings, client visits, customer events, industry conferences, and training sessions. Build, maintain and promote relationships with team members, peers across disciplines, and all other company team members ensuring effective coordination of communications and services affecting clients. Attend webinars and training to stay up‑to‑date on best practices related to the company and department. Complete projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and tools. In‑depth understanding of the company's products or services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and presentations. Efficiently managing time to balance multiple clients and tasks while staying organized in a dynamic work environment. Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to perform key responsibilities. Professional style, pride, and adherence to corporate policies and procedures. Sound business ethics and a high standard of performance while pursuing established goals. Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of the role. Flexibility to adjust strategies based on market changes and business needs. Strong ability to work cross‑functionally with other departments. Commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent, or a combination of experience, skills, education (including other relevant non‑traditional degree programs, certifications, or job training programs) preferred. At least two years of sales experience preferred. Previous experience and proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce or similar) preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and demonstrated ability to learn other applications as needed. Valid, non‑restrictive driver’s license required for regular travel to client sites and company locations. Verbal and written communication; exceptional skills for executive‑level reporting, cross‑functional coordination, and team leadership. Presentation skills; ability to present to internal stakeholders, external partners, and senior leadership. Environmental Conditions Primarily an indoor office environment; may occasionally have moderate noise from copiers, printers, and coworkers. May also work in client offices, industry conferences, customer events, and training sessions, requiring adaptation to different settings and conditions. The role may involve extended periods of sitting during travel and meetings, and standing and walking during client visits and events.
