Job Summary This position exists to perform skilled installation of plumbing systems, to provide lead work and direction to Plumbers, Plant Maintenance Engineers, General Repair Workers, and other personnel in the completion of plumbing projects and to inspect all plumbing projects and repair either existing or new systems. The Plumber Chief will hold the State of Minnesota Master Plumber license at MCF - Oak Park Heights. Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide ongoing lead work and direction to maintenance personnel so that the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code are met.
- Perform skilled installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of existing and new plumbing systems.
- Maintain a preventative maintenance program and perform emergency repair so that major repairs can be avoided when possible and potential emergencies be avoided.
- Monitor and modify construction plans, blueprints and plumbing specifications for the institution.
- Assist in a variety of trade areas as required so the day-to-day operation of the institution is maintained.
- Possession of Minnesota Master Plumber's License and a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license.
- Leadership skills sufficient to provide leadwork direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding and reporting on work activities of other staff.
- Commercial plumbing experience.
- Experience working with electronic controlled plumbing.
- Experience working in a correctional facility.
Ad ditional Requirements The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation. Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records. New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
