Patient Activities Assistant - Senior Care Services
WINSTON COUNTY MEDICAL FOUNDATION
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with planning and conducting daily group and individual activities.Encourage resident participation while respecting each resident's preferences and abilities.Provide one-on-one visits for residents unable or unwilling to attend group activities.Assist residents during activities as needed, including wheelchair transport.Adapt activities for residents with dementia, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or cognitive limitations.Promote resident independence, dignity, and quality of life.Prepare activity supplies and equipment.Decorate activity areas for all holidays and special celebrationsAssist with holiday celebrations, birthday parties, special events, and community outings.Maintain activity calendars and distribute schedules to residents.Document resident participation according to facility policy.Report changes in residents' interests, behavior, mood, or functioning to the Activity Director and nursing staff.Assist with activity attendance records and other required documentation.Keep up to date and accuracy MDS assessments and care plansWork cooperatively with nursing, therapy, dietary, social services, and other departments.Follow infection prevention procedures.Maintain a safe activity environment.Report hazards, accidents, or incidents immediately.Follow emergency preparedness procedures.Participate in care conferences when requested.Assist with resident council activities as assigned.Perform other duties assigned by the Activity Director.EducationHigh school diploma or GED preferred.ExperiencePrevious experience working with older adults preferred.Long-term care experience preferred but not required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills.Compassionate and patient demeanor.Ability to work with residents with dementia.Creativity and enthusiasm.Strong organizational skills.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical RequirementsEmployee must be able to:Stand and walk for extended periods.Lift up to 30 pounds regularly.Push wheelchairs.Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.Assist residents with mobility as appropriate.Work indoors and outdoors during activities.Performance ExpectationsThe Activities Assistant will:Maintain positive resident participation.Provide individualized resident engagement.Complete assigned documentation timely and accurately.Demonstrate professionalism with residents, families, and coworkers.Maintain attendance and punctuality.Contribute to maintaining compliance during surveys. #J-18808-Ljbffr WINSTON COUNTY MEDICAL FOUNDATION
