Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) this assignment is located in a unit caring for adult patients with a variety of diagnoses including cardiac, respiratory, renal, and post-procedure care. The role involves providing specialized nursing care, monitoring arterial lines, titrating certain drips, and ensuring patient safety and comfort in a fast-paced hospital environment. The position requires adaptability and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within a diverse team.

Job Details:

• Shift Hours: 12-hour days, with schedules from 06:30 to 18:30 or 18:30 to 06:30, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Start Date: 09/28/2026
• End Date: 01/11/2027
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; 2 years of nursing experience; proficiency in arterial lines; competence in titrating drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin; ability to read and interpret telemetry strips; familiarity with EPIC charting system; ability to troubleshoot high flow oxygen devices; flexibility to float to Medical-Surgical or ICU units; minimum of 2 years' experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step-down, cardiac, or telemetry units; bilingual abilities (Spanish, Somali); previous experience with diverse cultural populations.
• Additional Information: The role involves working in a 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 24 patients, nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5, and a focus on patient experience scores. Proper use of overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners is expected. There is a single day of unit-specific orientation. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. Candidates must be flexible, team-oriented, and able to adapt to patient care needs. RTO requests are limited to seven days at the start of the contract; additional RTO will not be approved. Floating to other units is required.
