Software Quality Assurance Engineering

ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking incumbent and external qualified candidates to support North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyene Mountain Complex (NCMC) – Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract III (NISSC III).  Please note that this is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated decision expected mid to late 2026  Qualified candidates will help operate, maintain, and sustain critical national mission systems to deliver resilient strategic threat warning and space capabilities as part of a world-wide architecture, providing strategic warning that our nation depends on during a conflict. This program will provide an opportunity to exploit the capabilities inherent in our diverse national systems to better meet the needs of the national command authority and warfighters to detect, track, and respond to strategic threats through 2030 and beyond  The Test / QA Software Engineer will support testing, quality assurance, integration validation, and operational readiness activities for mission-critical applications and systems supporting NORAD and USSPACECOM operations within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex environment. This role will support Agile software development and integration activities across complex operational and developmental environments supporting space, missile warning, command-and-control, and enterprise mission systems. The ideal candidate will possess foundational experience supporting software quality assurance, integration testing, defect management, and operational validation within DoD, aerospace, cyber, or mission-focused environments while collaborating closely with systems engineering, software development, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams to improve mission capability, system reliability, and operational effectiveness.ResponsibilitiesSupport software testing and quality assurance activities across the software development lifecycle including integration, regression, functional, system, and operational testingDevelop, maintain, and execute test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and automated/manual test casesSupport integration validation and operational readiness assessments across mission systems and enterprise environmentsDocument, track, and validate software defects, discrepancies, and corrective actions using defect tracking toolsCollaborate with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issuesSupport verification and validation activities for software releases, patches, upgrades, and modernization effortsParticipate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and release validationSupport automated testing, CI/CD integration testing, and DevSecOps quality assurance activities where applicableDevelop and maintain testing documentation, test reports, operational procedures, and readiness metricsSupport root cause analysis, incident response, and operational troubleshooting activitiesContribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on software quality, system reliability, maintainability, and mission effectivenessEnsure testing activities comply with program security, configuration management, and quality assurance standardsQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR 0+ years with Master’s degree; additional four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree will be consideredActive Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access requiredFoundational experience supporting software testing, quality assurance, integration validation, or operational testing activities within DoD, aerospace, cyber, enterprise IT, or mission-focused environmentsFamiliarity with developing and executing test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and operational test activitiesExperience documenting and tracking software defects, discrepancies, and corrective actionsFamiliarity with Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycle processesExperience troubleshooting software and system integration issues within Linux and/or Windows environmentsAbility to collaborate across engineering, software development, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teamsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skillsDesired QualificationsExperience supporting NORAD, USSPACECOM, Space Force, missile warning, or space domain awareness missionsExperience supporting satellite ground systems, command-and-control systems, or enterprise mission systemsFamiliarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipeline testingExperience with tools such as Jira, Zephyr, Confluence, GitLab, Jenkins, Selenium, or similar testing platformsExperience supporting integration and operational testing within classified or mission-focused environmentsFamiliarity with DevSecOps and secure software testing practicesExperience supporting verification and validation activities for mission-critical systemsSecurity+, Linux, cloud, or related technical certifications preferredPeraton OverviewPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
