Summary:

Provides advanced respiratory care in high-acuity settings including hospital-based and free-standing emergency/trauma centers, as well as neonatal, pediatric, and adult intensive care units. Demonstrates proficiency in performing complex respiratory interventions and treatment modalities, validated through observation, competency check-offs, and formal assessments. Serves as preceptor, mentor, and role model within the department. Serves as shift coordinator as needed. Supports clinical excellence by guiding peers, promoting best practices, and ensuring high standards of patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Working in exclusively adult patient care setting, adult critical care, adult emergency/trauma services hospital based or free-standing, and without pediatric and neonatal care services:

Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) & Advanced Critical Care Specialist - ACCS (RRT-ACCS). Must work a majority of annual hours in adult critical care areas AND proficient to provide coverage in any setting as needed.

Working in a mixed care setting that includes neonatal ICU, pediatric critical care &/or pediatric emergency or trauma services, & adult critical care, emergency or trauma services hospital based or free standing:

Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) & Advanced Critical Care Specialist - ACCS (RRT-ACCS) OR Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (RRT-NPS). Credential should match the critical care setting where the majority of annual hours are worked while maintaining proficiency to provide care in any setting as needed. Must be proficient to provide coverage in any setting as needed.

Working in Neonatal ICU (Level IV), PICU, PCICU, Emergency&/or Trauma Services, &/or Transport Team:

Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) & Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (RRT-NPS). Must work a majority of annual hours in SJWH/SJCH NICU/PICU critical care areas. Must be proficient in all advanced respiratory care modalities and proficient to work in any setting as needed.

Working in pulmonary function laboratory:

Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) & Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT). Must work a majority of annual hours in a pulmonary functional lab setting AND proficient to provide coverage in any setting as needed.

Working in pulmonary rehabilitation: Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) & certificate in Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AARC/AACVPR) or active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist & Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT). Must work a majority of annual hours in a pulmonary rehabilitation setting AND proficient to provide coverage in any setting as needed.

Preferred Membership: American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) - The Florida Society for Respiratory Care (FSRC).

Working in blood gas & CAPs:

Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) & Bachelor of Science degree that meets CAPs requirement. Must work a majority of annual hours in a lead role with the CAPs requirement AND proficient to provide coverage in any setting as needed. This may involve cross-campus coverage.

Education: Essential: * Education Information in Comments Education equivalent experience: Essential: * Required Education: Technical Program Completion or Degree Specialization in Respiratory Therapy; Preferred Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Credentials: Essential: * Credential Requirements in Comments Credential equivalent experience: Essential: * Required Credentials: RRT (Respiratory Therapy) - License; Active NBRC Credential for RRT Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS (Cardiovascular) - within 30 days of hire/transfer date; PALS (Pediatric) - within 6 months - if working in pediatric critical care; NRP (Neonatal) - within 6 months- if working in neonatal critical care.
