Research Associate Position

Dr. Pomerantz is looking for a new Research Associate. 100% grant funded.

The Pomerantz lab seeks a Research Associate to conduct cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structure biology, X-ray crystallography, and biochemical research on DNA repair proteins involved in cancer proliferation. The position requires a PhD, a minimum of 5 years of experience in cryo-electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography methods and solving high-resolution cryo-EM and X-ray structures, a minimum of 6 years of experience in protein biochemistry and molecular biology. The preferred candidate will have expertise in the structure biology of nucleic-acid enzymes.

The Research Associate will be required to independently design experimental procedures and interpret results, form hypotheses, and train graduate students on cryo-electron microscopy techniques and other structure biology techniques. The Research Associate will record and analyze experimental results and collaborate effectively with other team members. Other responsibilities include help maintaining databases of technical methods and protocols, plasmids, and other key resources, maintain accurate records, troubleshoot experimental design malfunctions, and implement solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate Ph.D. or M.D.
• 5 years bench research

Additional Qualifications Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
