Job Title: Dental Hygienist Profession: Dentistry Specialty: Dental Hygiene Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (07:30 - 16:30 on Monday - Thursday and 07:30 - 12:30 on Friday) Experience: No experience required; 1 year preferred License: Registered Dental Hygienist Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene Description: Performs routine dental prophylaxis. Participates in patient education. Trains dental hygiene students with minimal supervision. May require access to storage areas where medications are kept. Carries out procedures that require the use of medications. All employees are expected to be knowledgeable and comply with values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork. Performs oral prophylaxis and removes hard and soft deposits and stains from surfaces of teeth. Polishes all surfaces of teeth. Applies topical fluoride to the teeth. Exposes and develops radiographs. Provides oral hygiene instruction and counseling. Offers nutrition and dietary counseling. Schedules and confirms appointments. Reviews medical and dental health history. Records and takes blood pressure. Charts dental disease. Utilizes specific software for charting and charge entry.
