Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery unit. The ideal candidate will have high-risk obstetric experience, particularly in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting, ensuring the safety and well-being of mothers and newborns throughout the childbirth process.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, and legal standards.
• Document patient care activities accurately and thoroughly according to standards of care.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols, including providing education and support to patients and families.
• Participate in performance improvement activities within the department, supporting shared governance initiatives.
• Use clinical expertise to support other units/departments in delivering continuous, quality care as part of the patient's longitudinal care plan.
• Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment to prioritize patient safety, patient experience, and escalate issues appropriately when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Current Illinois RN license required.
• Valid CPR, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; education verification required.
• Proven experience in high-risk labor and delivery nursing, preferably at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• Strong knowledge of obstetric and neonatal care standards and safety protocols.
