Job Title

Registered Nurse – Oncology / PCU

Location

Omaha, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Oncology

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult oncology and trauma PCU patients on an 18-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–1:5
• Administer and monitor common drips and medications including chemotherapy, Heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix; titrate Insulin and Cardizem drips as needed
• Manage patients on high-flow respiratory equipment
• Conduct hourly rounding and participate in bedside shift report as a key component of patient experience
• Float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care as needed
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including Nursing Assistants, Charge Nurse, PT/OT, RN Case Manager, Social Worker, Educator, and Dietitian

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify distance
• Must not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; candidates must comply with facility fingernail policy
• Candidates must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Oncology nursing experience strongly preferred; strong PCU experience without oncology may be considered
• ONS/ONCC certification preferred
• Chemotherapy certification preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
