The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance is seeking a Supervising Engineering Geologist for the Cleanup Fund Branch, Technical Review Section. Duties : The Supervising Engineering Geologist is responsible for managing, supervising, and directing the Technical Review Section in the Cleanup Fund Branch. The Supervising Engineering Geologist provides significant engineering geology expertise in role of overseeing and directing the functions of technical staff responsible for evaluation of projects for the investigation and cleanup for the mitigation of significant human health or environment harm. Project evaluations include, but are not limited to, assessment of groundwater contamination, and technical groundwater treatment for cleanup. Recommend projects for technical funding programs and provide substantial basis to support recommendations in response to competing interests and technical proposals. The Supervising Engineering Geologist is responsible for operational planning and assigning of projects; budgeting for time and funds; staff development; reviewing and evaluating the program performance and achievements of each program, and preparation of associated administrative reports; coordinating each program’s activities with other technical and administrative support units and their activities; formulates and administers policies; represents the State Water Board in compliance negotiations, policy implementation, performance evaluation, program budgeting, and strategic planning; and related work.

Working Conditions
Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position.
In accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and GC 14200, the successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Proof of residency may be required.
Salary Information - CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience. E mployees appointed to the Attorney or Water Resource Control Engineer classification will receive Recruitment Higher Above Minimum (HAM) rate in accordance with the approved

- Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of soil and groundwater contamination characterization and remediation for both petroleum and non-petroleum contaminants.
- Strong organizational and program management skills and the ability to meet quality and deadline expectations on complex assignments and projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of procedures relating to budget, personnel, program management, productivity, quality improvement, and training.
