Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg/Telemetry

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Med/Surg and Telemetry to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and experience in managing neurological patients, particularly those with stroke conditions and other neuro diagnoses.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: 12-hour Day Shifts
• Shift Hours: 06:45 - 19:15
• Schedule: 3x12-Hour shifts per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective nursing care to patients primarily diagnosed with neurological conditions.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Utilize telemetry to interpret dysrhythmias and manage related conditions.
• Participate in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit as needed and support the neuro unit's goals.
• Effectively communicate with the healthcare team using standardized methods such as SBAR.
• Float to other Med/Surg/Telemetry areas as required, including COVID care units if necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience.
• Previous traveling nurse experience is required; candidates must have completed at least 2 successful contracts.
• Current BCLS certification is required. NIH and NIHSS certifications are also required.
• ACLS certification is preferred but not required.
• Strong skills in IV start, telemetry interpretation, and dysrhythmia management.

Additional Information

• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6 patients.
• Contract Length: Contracts are available for 20 weeks or more, valid through February 27, 2027.
• Travelers must work every other weekend and may need to make up shifts as necessary.
• Mandatory 36 hours of orientation provided prior to the start.
• Scrub Color: Navy.

Floating and Scheduling

Floating to other units may be required, particularly during high-demand times. Any call-offs may necessitate make-up shifts, ensuring the staffing needs of the unit are met promptly.

Patient Care Focus

The unit primarily caters to stroke patients, as well as those requiring care for other neurological issues, including epilepsy and subdural hematomas, making expertise in neuro-related nursing essential.
