The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Primary Function The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of site utilities and infrastructure while serving as the single point of accountability for equipment transfers—including inbound installation/startup, intra‑site moves, and outbound decommissioning and disposition. This role plans and executes facility projects, manages vendors, ensures regulatory and EHS compliance, optimizes preventive maintenance programs, and leads cross‑functional logistics for equipment moves (e.g., rigging, crating, shipping, labeling, documentation, validation/qualification, and change control). The incumbent will work closely with Operations, EHS, Quality/Validation, IT/OT, Security, Supply Chain/Logistics, Finance, and external contractors to minimize downtime, mitigate risk, and ensure compliant, well‑documented transfers and reliable facility operations. Facilities Engineering & Site Operations Own the performance and integrity of building systems: HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS/generators, compressed air/vacuum, process gases, chilled/hot water, plumbing, fire/life safety, building controls (BMS) including I4.0 Digitization and connectivity, access/security, and general infrastructure Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies; administer the CMMS (asset hierarchy, PM schedules, work orders, spare parts, and failure codes). Troubleshoot complex system issues; lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Plan and execute facility upgrades and small to mid‑scale construction projects: scope, cost estimates, schedules, risk/impact assessments, and commissioning. Manage external service providers (MSAs, SOWs), ensuring quality, safety, and on‑time delivery. Maintain accurate as‑built drawings, P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and equipment documentation. Equipment Transfer, Relocation, and Disposition (Inbound, Intra‑site, Outbound) Serve as Transfer Lead for all equipment moves into/from/within the site (production, lab, R&D, utilities, IT/OT hardware, specialized assets). Create and run transfer playbooks and checklists: site readiness, power/utility validation, floor loading and anchorage, vibration/isolation, environmental controls, cleanroom considerations, safety zones, and traffic flow. Coordinate rigging, crating, packing, and shipping with qualified vendors; ensure proper lifting plans, protection, labeling, and insurance. Manage technical decommissioning: equipment shutdown procedures, zero‑energy verification, decontamination/cleaning, hazardous material purging, residual waste handling, data sanitization (for smart/connected assets), and release for transport/scrap. Oversee import/export compliance and documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, HS codes, ITAR/EAR where applicable), chain‑of‑custody, and traceability. Lead commissioning/qualification upon arrival (FAT/SAT coordination, installation verification, utilities hookup, alignment/calibration, functional testing, OQ/PQ support where required). Ensure change control and configuration management for equipment moves (asset tags, serial numbers, software/firmware baselines, revision control, integration into CMMS, updates to location registers and floor plans). Partner with EHS, Quality, and Security to meet regulatory, safety, and GMP/GLP/ISO considerations (as applicable). Drive risk assessments (JHAs, lifting plans, MOC), contingency planning, and readiness reviews to protect personnel, product, property, and schedule. EHS, Compliance & Standards Ensure adherence to OSHA and applicable NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, local building/fire codes, environmental permits, and company standards. Own and continuously improve LSR, LOTO, confined space, hot work, contractor control, and permit‑to‑work processes. Support permit requirements, contractor safety compliance, and pre‑task risk assessments. Verify readiness for operational handoff through inspections, checklists, and completion documentation. Maintain strong 5S+, housekeeping and audit readiness; respond to inspections and implement action plans. Project & Financial Management Build business cases, budgets, and schedules; manage CAPEX/OPEX for facilities and transfer projects. Track and report progress, risks, and mitigations; maintain documentation, closeouts, and lessons learned. Identify cost‑saving opportunities through energy efficiency, condition‑based maintenance, and lifecycle planning. Stakeholder & Vendor Management Coordinate across Operations, Quality/Validation, EHS, IT/OT, Security, Supply Chain, and Finance. Select and manage qualified vendors for maintenance, rigging, transport, calibration, and commissioning; negotiate scope and hold vendors accountable to SLAs and safety standards. Communicate clearly to all levels (operators to executives) with concise status updates and dashboards. Site & Site Exit Support Support new site build‑out and start‑up activities, including facilities readiness, equipment installation, and operational handoff. Ensure closure and start‑up activities comply with EHS, Security, regulatory, and corporate standards. Coordinate with Security and necessary contractors to secure premises and assets. Cross‑Functional Coordination Coordinate day‑to‑day execution across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT, Quality, EHS, Finance, HR, and external contractors. Manage dependencies and resolve execution issues through collaboration and escalation as needed. Participate in regular project and program reviews, providing accurate status updates and risk assessments. Communication & Reporting Provide clear and timely project status reports, including schedule updates, cost performance, risks, and issues. Communicate effectively with plant leadership and functional stakeholders to align execution activities. Support stakeholder change communications related to project execution and operational transitions. Qualifications Basic (Required) Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of ten (10) years of equivalent military/technical experience. Minimum of three (3) years of facilities engineering or plant engineering with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in Manufacturing, Operations, Continuous Improvement, and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
