Company Description Modern Therapy Group is a New York City-based mental health practice providing psychotherapy, psychiatry, medication management, and ketamine therapy. The practice offers individual, couples, and group therapy, as well as specialized modalities such as EMDR, DBT, CBT, IFS, and somatic therapy, matched to each client’s specific needs. Care is available in person in Midtown Manhattan near subway access and virtually across multiple states, including New York, New Jersey, Florida, Connecticut, Texas, California, and Vermont. An integrated team of therapists and board-certified psychiatrists collaborates to ensure continuity of care when medication is involved. The practice is in-network with major insurance providers and emphasizes a streamlined, low-surprise experience for clients. Role Description The Staff Therapist is a full-time, hybrid role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, with a mix of in-person sessions at the office and work-from-home telehealth appointments. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting individual, couples, and group psychotherapy sessions, using evidence-based modalities aligned with client needs. The therapist will complete intake assessments, develop treatment plans, maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, and coordinate care with psychiatrists and other team members. Additional tasks include participating in case consultations, engaging in ongoing professional development, and contributing to a collaborative and inclusive practice environment. The role may also involve limited administrative tasks related to scheduling, client communication, and adherence to practice policies and ethical standards. Qualifications Licensed or license-eligible mental health professional (e.g., MHC-LPs, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD, or equivalent) in New York; additional licenses in other states served by the practice are a plus. Demonstrated proficiency in psychotherapy modalities such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, or related evidence-based approaches. Strong skills in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for diverse populations and presenting concerns. Ability to maintain thorough, compliant, and timely electronic health records and documentation. Experience providing telehealth services and comfort with secure video platforms and basic technology tools. Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and boundary-setting skills, with the ability to build therapeutic rapport and collaborate in an integrated care team. Availability for a consistent full-time schedule that includes both in-person and virtual sessions. Prior experience in outpatient private practice or community mental health settings is beneficial.
