ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides supervision of students in educational settings. Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans. Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Maintains a safe and orderly environment. Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned. Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students. Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility. Communicates effectively with parents when needed. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated. Maintain punctual and consistent attendance. Maintain the confidentiality of student records and information according to established practices and procedures. Maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, family and staff information. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation. Complete other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed. Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word). Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required. Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent. Experience working with school aged students, preferred. Valid Indiana teaching license or substitute teaching license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 25 lbs. Ability to carry 25 lbs. Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations. Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation. Ability to operate office equipment. Ability to reach in all directions.

Up to 184 days per school year.
