S&O Wholesale is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Temporary Senior Accountant to support our accounting department with day-to-day accounting activities, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and financial recordkeeping.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to independently review transactions, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and account coding.
• Review general ledger activity for accuracy and proper classification.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and outstanding items.
• Review vendor bills and customer transactions for accuracy.
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity, including payment and credit application.
• Monitor account activity and assist with identifying unusual transactions or variances.
• Assist with month-end accounting activities and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Support inventory-related account reconciliations and research inventory discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with audit, tax, and other accounting support requests as needed.
• Communicate accounting discrepancies or concerns to accounting management.
• Work with purchasing, sales, operations, and other departments to obtain information needed to maintain accurate financial records.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience .
• Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience , preferably involving general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and GAAP.
• Experience preparing journal entries and performing bank, credit card, or balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently research discrepancies and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet established deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with inventory accounting or inventory reconciliation.
• Experience in a wholesale, distribution, retail, or inventory-based business.
• Experience assisting with audits, tax preparation, or regulatory reporting.
• Experience working with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
