There is a full-time opening for Sign Language Interpreters and ASL Paras, facilitating communication and learning for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a dynamic middle and high school setting. This onsite contract role offers approximately 30 hours per week during standard school hours, providing an essential service with continual need throughout the school year.

Desired Qualifications:

• Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or an EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI score of 4.0 or above.
• Candidates with EIPA scores under 4.0 may still be considered as ASL Paras.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language with the ability to provide clear sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation.
• Experience working in educational settings and supporting academic success for deaf and hard-of-hearing students is preferred.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to engage with students, teachers, and staff.
• Comfortable supporting students in classrooms and during community or outdoor activities.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers, educators, and school personnel.
• Provide interpretation services in academic subjects and assist in areas like reading, writing, math, vocational, and living skills.
• Support students in both routine classroom functions and broader school activities.
• Monitor and assist students during class and while participating in school or community programs.
• Collaborate with educators to ensure inclusive, supportive educational experiences.
