Medical AssistantMaintain patient's safe passage in and out of the practiceGreet, assess and interview patientsObtain past medical and surgical history, family history, social history, vital signsReview present medications, allergy, history, chief complaint, and brief interrogation of complaintAct as a liaison between doctor and patientExplain medication, side effects, treatments, diets, diseases and disease processesUpdate medication list and current problem listPrepare and assist patients for examination, treatment, or procedure by medical staffAnticipate needs of patients, providers, other team membersMonitoring of patient during examination, or procedureMaintain and update level of skill for pertinent medical assistant dutiesStocking of supplies as needed, and maintaining clean exam roomsRespond to patient's concernsMaintains patient confidentialityParticipate in training and skills development of new medical assistantsDrug Screen and BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing)Perform a variety of preliminary procedures, including phlebotomy, injections, throat cultures, nasal swabs and moreAnalyze samples with various point-of-care testing platformsPrepare and package laboratory samples for transport to labDemonstrate excellent customer service skills, check patients in and out for appointments utilizing our electronic internal practice management system.Confirm patient information at the time of check-inComplete / confirm insurance eligibilityAnswer front desk phone calls.Provide receptionist back-up / support while being able to explain financial requirements to the patient (s) or responsible parties and collect co-pays and past due balances as required.Ensure Worker's Compensation, MVA and Occupational Health paperwork is completed for visits.Maintain optimum customer service and patient confidentiality.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Medical Assistant Certification preferred or Emergency Medical Technician LicenseExternship/Internship within related healthcare practice preferred.Must have current or very recent experience phlebotomy skillSchedule and Location vary weekly, including rotating weekends and holidays. Required - 2 weekend shifts per month.Operation hours Monday - Friday 9a-7p (10-hour shift), Saturday - Sunday 9a-4p (7-hour shift)
