Water/Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from inception through to completion. The role will involve managing projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical works. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards.


Key responsibilities will include coordinating design development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities; preparing and maintaining detailed programmes, budgets, risk registers, and progress reports; and managing project resources, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and client representatives. You will monitor project performance, identify and resolve technical or commercial issues, manage change control, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, permits, specifications, and health and safety requirements. The role will also require effective stakeholder engagement, regular reporting to senior management, and the leadership of project meetings and reviews.


Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects. A recognised project management qualification and professional membership are desirable. You will need a strong understanding of contract administration, cost control, risk management, construction methodologies, and relevant industry standards. Experience with NEC, FIDIC, or similar forms of contract would be advantageous. Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding project environment. A proactive, collaborative approach and a clear commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement are also required.
