Principal Cloud Security Architect About the Role What if your deep knowledge of cloud architecture could directly prevent the next major breach? We're looking for a Principal Cloud Security Architect to dig into large-scale cloud environments, uncover hidden risks, and deliver the kind of structured, actionable guidance that security teams actually use. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for senior cloud security professionals who thrive on complexity and know how to translate technical findings into clear strategic direction.

- Evaluate cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP for security gaps, design flaws, and long-term risk exposure
- Review IAM configurations, network segmentation, resource policies, and access control models
- Identify misconfigurations, privilege escalation risks, and insecure architectural patterns
- Produce clear, structured reports that translate complex findings into prioritized mitigation guidance
- Validate alignment with established security frameworks, industry best practices, and compliance standards
- Support recurring assessments of cloud environments and evolving deployment patterns
- Communicate architectural recommendations in a way that resonates with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Deep, hands-on experience in cloud security architecture at scale
- Strong command of IAM models, network design, and cloud service security across one or more major platforms
- Proven ability to document complex architectures and findings in clear, structured, and actionable form
- Sharp eye for identifying what's broken, what's risky, and what's just waiting to be exploited
- Experience with multi-cloud environments spanning two or more major providers
- Familiarity with zero-trust architecture principles and implementation patterns
- Background in high-compliance industries such as finance, healthcare, or government
- Relevant certifications (AWS Security Specialty, CCSP, CISSP, or similar)
- Work on meaningful, high-stakes security challenges across diverse cloud environments
- Fully remote and asynchronous - work on your own schedule, wherever you do your best thinking
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of well-defined, impactful engagements
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new assessments are scoped
- Make a direct, measurable impact on the security posture of large-scale cloud deployments
