Description: Press Brake Operator

Sets up and operates power brake to bend, notch, form shapes, or straighten metal plates or sheet
metal and structural shapes to blueprint or sketch specifications by performing the following
duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed.
Turns setscrews or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position.
Sets specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal, as indicated by
calibrated scale or feelers.
Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates.
Stans machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal.
Sets CNC or manual back gage to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations.
Verifies dimensions of work piece.
COMPETENCY LEVEL
Must achieve a blueprint reading & shop math qualifications of 80% minimum total score.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read blueprints.
Must have knowledge in the use of calipers and other measuring tools.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate and apply job-related mathematical concepts.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.

focus.
