Resp Pulmonary Rehab Spec

The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs routine and specialized respiratory therapy procedures on patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by department protocol. Ability to provide care to adult and geriatric patients. Utilizes knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient's age and condition to ensure that the unique physical and psychosocial needs of the patient are met. Involves appropriate individuals (i.e. patient's family or guardian, outside agencies) in the continuing care of the patient as needed. Ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the mission and SPIRIT values of Northwest Hospital. The RT participates as a member of the patient care team following completion of the formalized orientation program. The RT functions under and is responsible to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation manager. The ability to observe and obtain information, understand the range of treatment needed by the patients and reports significant findings to the manager. Performs pulmonary diagnostic testing at a high level of proficiency, such as spirometry, lung volumes, flow volume loops, single breath diffusion capacity, arterial punctures to assist medical providers in both the diagnosis and in guiding therapy of patients with pulmonary disorders.

Experience: 1-3 years

Education: Associate's Degree. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Licenses And Certification: Respiratory Care Practitioner License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license. Registered Respiratory Therapist. AHA Basic Life Support. Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (Preferred).
