Tax Preparer
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Preparer / Accounting Associate to join our growing public accounting firm. This position focuses on preparing individual and business tax returns while providing bookkeeping and accounting support for a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041, and 990.
- Gather, organize, and verify client tax documentation.
- Perform bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and journal entries using QuickBooks.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax information and filings.
- Assist with tax planning, estimated taxes, and year-end preparation.
- Research basic tax issues and ensure compliance.
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices.
- Manage multiple client deadlines.
- Support accountants and CPAs with additional projects.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1–3+ years of tax preparation, bookkeeping, or public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and professional tax software.
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
