Equipment Technician

Champlain Valley Equipment, an agricultural and light industrial equipment business headquartered in Vermont, is seeking an experienced, full-time Equipment Mechanic / Service Technician in Canton, New York. In this role, you will diagnose, maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and light construction equipment, helping customers keep their equipment operating reliably. As a customer-facing representative of the company, you will bring clear communication and professionalism to every service interaction. Dealership hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and most Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment malfunctions by inspecting machinery, reviewing inspection reports, and discussing issues with customers.
• Maintain, repair, and overhaul agricultural machinery, light construction equipment, and other equipment, including tuning and overhauling engines.
• Dismantle equipment and repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, torches, welding equipment, grinders, and saws.
• Test and replace electrical components and wiring using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
• Clean and lubricate parts, reassemble equipment after repairs, and test and adjust operation as needed.
• Assemble and inspect new equipment.
• Document repairs completed and parts used.
• Drive trucks to transport tools and equipment for on-site repairs of large machinery.
• Represent Champlain Valley Equipment professionally when communicating with customers and performing service work.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing and repairing agricultural, light construction, or related machinery and equipment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Computer skills and knowledge of electronic service tools.
• Tools for performing equipment service and repairs.
• Valid driver’s license.
