The Community Hope Center (CHC) is the community services arm of Seneca Creek Community Church, committed to loving our neighbors by ensuring access to food and essentials, empowering them with opportunities to grow, and enriching lives through supportive relationships. Our food and baby essentials programs serve thousands of families across Gaithersburg and the surrounding Montgomery County zip codes each year, distributing over one million pounds of food and hundreds of thousands of diapers annually.

Position Overview

The Food & Baby Essentials Program Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of CHC’s Choice Pantry and Baby Essentials Program, including diaper distribution and crib giveaways. This is a hands-on, client-facing role that requires consistent on-site presence during distribution sessions. The Coordinator assists with client intake, pantry floor operations, and data entry, working closely with the Food Program Manager and the Executive Director.

Typical Weekly Schedule

This Position Is Scheduled Around CHC’s Active Distribution Calendar. A Typical Week May Include Two To Three Of The Following Shifts, Up To The 15-hour Weekly Maximum, And Is Subject To Change Based On Program Needs

• Tuesday & Thursday, 9:30 AM–5:00 PM – Choice Pantry distribution support (client intake, pantry floor)
• Friday, 12:30–4:30 PM – Choice Pantry afternoon distribution support
• First Saturday of each month, 9:00 AM–12:30 PM – Saturday pantry distribution
• Second Monday of each month, 11:00 AM–6:30 PM – Baby Essentials (diaper) distribution
• Occasional additional hours for crib giveaway events or inventory tasks as needed

Key Responsibilities

Choice Pantry Operations

• Assist with client check-in at the pantry entrance; support appointment verification and orderly client flow
• Assist clients in navigating the Choice Pantry model, ensuring a dignified and welcoming experience
• Support restocking and organization of pantry shelves, coolers, and product displays before, during, and after distribution
• Support distribution at “Adopt A Neighborhood” partner locations as scheduled

Baby Essentials Program

• Support monthly diaper distribution for families in zip codes 20877, 20878, 20879, 20889, 20855, and 20886
• Assist with client appointments and eligibility documentation (proof of birth, address, and ID) at point of service
• Assist in preparing and packaging diaper bundles and baby supply kits ahead of distribution days
• Support crib giveaway scheduling and logistics, including inventory tracking and client follow-up

Inventory & Food Safety

• Assist with receiving and sorting donated, rescued, and purchased food and baby supply items
• Support stock level monitoring and flag replenishment needs to the Food Program Manager
• Follow CAFB (Capital Area Food Bank) food safety and handling protocols; support compliance documentation

Data Entry & Reporting

• Assist with recording client service data accurately in PantrySoft and other program databases at the point of service or same day
• Assist in compiling pantry and baby essentials metrics for monthly Hub reports and funder deliverables
• Support data accuracy by flagging discrepancies or system issues to the Food Program Manager or Executive Director promptly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or relevant direct service experience preferred
• Prior experience in food distribution, pantry operations, or community services a plus
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment; ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail for data entry, client documentation, and inventory tracking
• Warm, client-centered approach with a commitment to serving all individuals with dignity and respect
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms); willingness to learn PantrySoft
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
• Reliable availability on distribution days, including some Mondays, Saturdays, and occasional evenings

Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time, salaried position compensated at up to $15,600 annually, based on a rate of $20 per hour at a maximum of 15 hours per week. The schedule is built around CHC’s distribution calendar and requires consistent on-site availability on assigned distribution days. Specific shift days are outlined in the Typical Weekly Schedule section above.
