Patient Care Assistant

PRN Days Variable Schedule Onsite Summary:The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.Responsibilities:Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.Provide evidence-based de-escalation interventionsMaintain a safe environment for self, patients and othersRemain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient.Provide direct patient care such as vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.Stock linens and suppliesDocument observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPICPrioritize and execute task for the assigned patients in a timely and efficient mannerAlert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.Maintain a calm and professional presence for the patient and their family members.Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.Other duties as assigned. Other information:Technical ExpertiseKnowledge of and experience in medical terminology preferred.Experience working in healthcare environment is preferred.Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.Experience working in an electronic medical record (i.e. EPIC) or similar software is preferred.Education and ExperienceEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredCertification: Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.Years of relevant experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience is preferredYears of supervisory experience: NoneOn CallFTE: 0.001000Status: Onsite
